it's the little ones that hurt
Tiny victories may make the world go round, but tiny defeats suck--as much as the big ones. Lately gasoline prices have been utterly inconsistent. Some weeks the price goes up on Monday, and others it doesn't. For a long time I could count on about a quarter-per-gallon difference from 8:00am on Monday to 6:00pm that night. The last couple weeks, though, it's been different. I filled up on this Monday, at lunchtime, for $1.76 a gallon. That's the highest it's been this week. The other night I even saw it for a buck and sixty-nine cents on my way over to Scott & Carina's place for some hobnobbery. They loaned me their (on-loan from somebody borrowing it from Netflix) copy of Bubba Ho-tep and it's a decent movie. I'm listening to the second commentary track, the one done by Elvis, and it's a certain kind of amusing. It seems well researched and somewhat scripted, but I still have some respect for it for the sheer effort that must have been involved. My intentions weren't to watch it straight through back to back like this, but right now the King's explaining the three-act structure of movies and talking about smoking, so I guess I'll stick with it. Good night to one and all.
