…and already back to the meaningless movie name-dropping

I’ve often thought that I think most clearly in the hours after midnight. The last nights I’ve been up then I have noticed things pointed out in DVD commentaries, like the guy who, in the middle of a bank robbery, grabs extra money to restock his counter in Lola Rennt or the generic-esque production design in Repo Man extending even to the drugs the punks sniff.

Of course, it is too early for me to finish this thought. Tomorrow I’ll watch something like Cannonball run, for which I have already experienced the commentary, and hopefully this vicious cycle will be broken.

At the risk of this sounding completely fluffy, go out and read Daniel Quinn’s Ishmael. It’s brilliant, perceptive and can be described with scads more multisyllablic adjectives. It talks about the history of the world and what could be done to save it…
