nifty thrifty
[this entry is backdated -- still no connectivity at the house]
Time flies when you're doing landscaping. Yesterday we popped down to Radio shack and a nearby thrift store for me to get some banana clips for free and for Jessica to get her resale fix for the month. So anyway, I now have banana jack connections for all five of my speakers (whenever I get around to setting them back up) and Jessica picked up some shorts or shirts or something.
Oh, and I picked up a two megapixel digital camera for three bucks. Sure, the case is rather scratched (it looks like somebody used it for street hockey) but the innards, viewfinder and lens are intact enough for it to still work! I'm happy, though it doesn't really do anything that my eighty-dollar three-megapixel SiPix doesn't. In fact, it has a few fewer features, but is probably a better camera overall. It's a HP photosmart 318, and I can't seem to find anybody selling it for much less than a hundred bucks. It's scores like that that keep me from altogether disliking thrift store shopping.
Oh, and the couch showed up. All three sections of it, and surprisingly it's a sleeper. Somehow we neglected to check that when we were sitting on it and swiping extra pillows at Sofa Express. It's huge, but oddly enough the bed inside's only a full. Oh well.
The chimney guy also came by and put new, not-rusty doors and whatnot on the chimney, and then told us that it's crap and we'd need two grand of work to be able to safely use it. This one we'll have to look into someday, though I don't see us lighting any fires anytime soon, what with this eighty degree heat.

Nice score on the camera. That's the same model I have.
