This was supposed to be an ongoing blog of interesting (if not worthwhile) links and my commentary about them. I'd planned to update it daily, then weekly, and then I gave up before even reaching ninety posts. I make no guarantee these links work anymore, or if they do, that they're worth visiting.

Road warrior, nerd style

Nowadays it seems that even Ford Escorts come with DVD players and GPS installed, but not too long ago the driver with technolust had very few choices for the connected car. But one company, partnering with the already top-of-the-line Mercedes Benz (before it was DaimlerChrysler, even), stood head and shoulders above the rest: MegaCar.

For a significant portion of a million bucks, one could drive off in true style, with ISDN-comparable internet connection, satellite phone and even a printer/scanner.

They’re still around even now, still making a supercar even better, though no word on if even one MegaCar has been sold or not.

Even without buzzsaws these robots are cool

Robots are getting a decent amount of publicity these days, what with BattleBots and Robot Wars on TV. Though some would argue that those ‘bots are mere radio controlled cars with saws and spikes, the attention given them is often at the expense of much cooler robots.

It is not this injustice that some NASA folks are out to right with their site, as its been around long before ‘bot warfare was primetime fare. They don’t limit their accords to NASA’s admittedly cool robots (when they don’t get ‘lost’) but recognize mecha of all types and purposes. And they’ve been at it for years.
